This cutting-edge groupset promises to push the boundaries of performance, versatility, and innovation in the world of gravel riding. In this blog post, we'll delve into the standout features of the RED XPLR and explore how it’s set to revolutionize your riding experience.

    The Evolution of Gravel Cycling

Gravel cycling has quickly evolved from a niche segment to a leading discipline in cycling, attracting riders with diverse preferences—ranging from those who crave speed to those who love tackling rugged terrains. Recognizing this evolution, SRAM has designed the RED XPLR to cater to the needs of today’s gravel cyclists, offering an unparalleled riding experience that fuses performance and adaptability.

Key Features of the SRAM RED XPLR 13-Speed Groupset

    1. 13-Speed Drivetrain

One of the most exciting advancements in the RED XPLR groupset is the introduction of a 13-speed drivetrain. This enhancement not only provides a wider gear range but also smoother gear transitions, allowing riders to navigate various terrain types with greater ease—whether you’re climbing steep hills or cruising on flat roads. The increased number of gears also means you can fine-tune your cadence and maintain optimal power output, regardless of the conditions.

    2. Wide Gear Range

The RED XPLR boasts an impressive gear range, perfect for conquering steep ascents and technical descents. With options like a 10-44T cassette, it ensures that you'll have the right gear at your disposal, allowing you to tackle even the most challenging gravel roads without a hitch.

     3. Lightweight Construction

Weight is always a critical consideration for performance cyclists, and SRAM has delivered the RED XPLR with premium materials, ensuring that the groupset remains lightweight without sacrificing durability. This is particularly important for those long gravel adventures where every gram counts.

    4. Advanced Technology: AXS Integration

The SRAM RED XPLR is equipped with AXS technology, allowing for seamless integration with mobile devices and the ability to customize settings via the AXS app. Riders can easily adjust shifting preferences, check battery life, and even receive maintenance reminders—keeping you connected and informed throughout your ride.

    5. Improved Ergonomics

Comfort is key for long rides, and SRAM has focused on ergonomic design in the RED XPLR. The shifters are crafted for a natural grip, ensuring that shifting is both instinctive and easy, even under the most demanding conditions. Riders will appreciate the added comfort, especially on extended gravel excursions.

    6. Unparalleled Durability

Considering the rugged nature of gravel cycling, durability is paramount. The RED XPLR groupset is designed with robust components that can withstand the rigors of off-road riding. SRAM’s engineering ensures that the groupset performs reliably in harsh conditions, whether it’s rain, mud, or dust.

    Effortless Performance. Effortless Perfection

You want your performance to represent 100% of what you put in, and SRAM designed RED AXS with that goal. RED AXS is not just the SRAM’s lightest electronic groupset ever, it has more comfortable and lower-effort braking, more precise shifting, and expanded gearing choices.

Riding isn’t effortless SRAM RED is.

    Intuitive, Instant Wireless Shift Logic

SRAM continues to lead the way in their shift logic. Right is harder, left is easier, push both to operate the front derailleur. It’s one of SRAM’s most popular product features across the Road AXS product. Plus, this AXS enabled lever provides easy setup, personalization, and reliability.

Shift or Swipe Without Lifting a Finger

Bonus Button lets you shift or control ANT+ devices with your thumbs. Out of the box, Bonus Button comes as a standard shifter, however, it can easily be programmed to do other functions through the AXS app.

More Braking Power. Less Hand Fatigue

True one-finger braking is at hand. SRAM overhauled their hood and lever architecture and achieved breakthroughs for fit across all hand sizes and easy access to powerful and smooth, easy braking from anywhere on the bar. In addition, textured shift paddles and hoods provide even more control and comfort. All that and SRAM still managed to remove 83g from the pair.

SRAM’s most advanced gravel group, featuring a 13-speed 10-46t range so you’re always in the right gear. Precise shifts with tight jumps between cogs keep you in the gearing sweet spot, and the Full Mount derailleur that fits on frames with the UDH interface ensures this system can take whatever you throw at it.

Fast, Precise Shifting with Simple Setup

No adjustment screws needed: no b-tension screw, no high limit screw, no low limit screw. And the shifting, it’s not just precise, but fast. A big focus and priority in the development of this rear derailleur has been the shift speed. For gravel riders and racers, shift speed is important, and that is something that you will notice when you ride it.

    Full Mount Resilience

The RED XPLR AXS 13-Speed Rear Derailleur attaches to frames with a UDH interface, the same interface that MTBs have had for several years. There is no hanger when you use this derailleur. This is what SRAM calls a Full Mount derailleur, which attaches to the UDH interface to eliminate variables by centering the derailleur on the wheel axle – and that means perfect shifting. Fixing the rear derailleur on the axle also opens us up to a design that provides superior impact resistance when things get nasty. No bent hangers after impacts or travel.

Personalization Made Easy - The Power of AXS™

Control, personalize and monitor. AXS™—SRAM’s bike component integration system—takes eTap® wireless shifting to the next level. The SRAM AXS™ app allows riders to see battery status, change component behavior, personalize controls, get maintenance reminders, and update firmware.

The Gravel Gearing Sweet Spot, Perfected

FINALLY! A lightweight RED XPLR cassette coming in at 288 grams. Range for any course, with fine gaps between cogs so you’re never searching for the right gear. The new RED XPLR cassette is a wide-range 10-46 to cover the sweet spot of gravel gearing. It’s 13-speed so finding the right cadence is effortless. That’s right, 13.
