Though this route does involve some climbing, it falls under intermediate difficulty for our Send Its (final route will be in the 30-35 mile range).
Before getting into the details, here are the RIDE RULES.
- We will meet at Grizzly Cycles (2305 Alta Vista Dr) at 8:00am, roll at 8:15am.
- Parking is available in the neighborhood along Alta Vista Drive.
- The dirt is technical in certain sections. Good working brakes are a must!
- Everyone rides at their own risk. Make sure to bring your own tubes and a couple of water bottles. We’ll be stopping at mile 16 for refills and breakfast burritos.
- Riding tires 40mm and above will do the trick for most with a mixture hard and smooth surfaces.
- There will be a number of regroups, but once everyone’s back, we roll!
- This will not be race pace, but there is a good amount of milage. If you’re just getting back into riding, I suggest you read Rule #1 again.
Our ride will start out heading north where we will descend towards the Kern River and all the off-roading around.
If you missed out on Grizzly Cycles first Rigid Bike Classic earlier this December, we will be covering a portion of the course that harkens to the original Repack ride.
We will stop mid-route at the Smith Bakery at the gas station for refills and breakfast burritos.
After, we will navigate the foothills south of Hwy 178 before heading back to the shop.
Grizzly Cycles has a great vibe for all cyclists, so come as you are and join us January 19th!
