Hello, everyone! Kevin here, and I want to take a moment to spotlight an incredible individual who is changing the game for our youth: Drew Raney. If you’ve been following his journey over at Teresa Burke Elementary School, I know you’ll agree that what Drew is doing is nothing short of amazing.

When Drew first started at Teresa Burke Elementary, he brought with him a vision that would not just benefit one child, but an entire community. Imagine the joy and freedom of riding a bike—something many of us may take for granted. Drew saw this as a right for every child, not just a privilege for the few. Thanks to his tireless efforts, he has already raised $3,000, given away 13 bikes, and launched a comprehensive learn-to-ride program that spans all of Wasco's elementary schools.

His enthusiasm is contagious, and the impact he’s making is palpable. The freedom that comes with riding a bike is transformative—not just for the body, but for the spirit. Drew knows this firsthand and is dedicated to ensuring that every child who wants to ride has the opportunity to learn.

This spring, Drew is gearing up for an ambitious challenge: racing on a single-speed bicycle across various events, including the Rock Cobbler, Stagecoach 400, and Tour De Los Padres. His goal? To raise $1 for every mile he races—an initiative that showcases both his commitment to his personal limits and his dedication to the students. Knowing that each mile he covers directly supports kids in Wasco just adds fuel to his fire.

As someone who has seen Drew’s passion and determination up close, I can assure you he won’t stop until he reaches his goal. His vision is crystal clear: to empower every student willing to take those first wobbly pedals toward mastering the art of cycling. With Drew at the helm, he is not just instilling bike-riding skills; he is fostering confidence, independence, and a love for outdoor activity.

Drew’s journey is not one he walks alone. He needs our help, and that’s where you come in. If you’re inspired to support this initiative, you can find his Venmo details in his post. Each donation goes directly to a student in need, ensuring that every child has a chance to learn how to ride a bicycle.

Even if you can’t donate financially, sharing this message is a wonderful way to help spread the word. The more people who know about Drew’s mission, the more students he can empower.

So, here’s to Drew for his relentless spirit and unwavering commitment to the next generation. You are truly making a difference, and I cannot wait to see how far we can go together. Let’s keep up the momentum and continue to inspire the students to reach their full potential!

Ride on,
Kevin

Well stated. Drew has done incredible work towards getting young kids active and helping them find the joys of biking, Not only that, but he has helped run the chess club, the student council, and won teacher of the year. But his determination really shows when he is out on the trail, striving always to do ever better.
Thanks for your support, Kevin and all the Grizzly community.
